Candidates file for June Primary Election


March 28 was the deadline for candidates for county office to file nomination papers for the June 5 Primary Election. Two seats on the Hancock County Board of Supervisors, and the terms of the Hancock County Attorney, Recorder and Treasurer expire.

Board of Supervisors

Six candidates are running for two positions on the Hancock County Board of Supervisors.

On the Republican Party ballot, incumbent supervisors Florence “Sis” Greiman, Garner, and Ron Sweers, Britt  are facing a Primary Election challenge from Gary Rayhons, Garner, and Richard A. Freesmann of Britt.

The Democratic ballot will have two candidates for supervisor: Ted D. Hall, Forest City, and Donny Schleusner, Garner.  Ted Hall previously served on the Hancock County Board of Supervisors from 2007 to 2014.

Recorder Tracy L. Marshall, and Treasurer Deborah D. Engstler seek re-election to their respective offices. They are unopposed in the Republican Primary.

Hancock County Attorney Blake Norman was appointed to the office to the fill the unexpired term of David Solheim. Norman is on the Republican Party ballot. He is unopposed.
