The Garner-Hayfield-Ventura softball team competed in the Class 3A Regionals first round on Wednesday visiting Clear Lake.

Despite ending in a mercy-ruled finish of 7-17, The Cardinals had kept in the game to start off.

GHV put its first two batters on base with bunts.

Megan Oteken then took to the plate and smashed the ball to left field for a three-run homer.

The Cardinals would lead 3-2 after the first inning.

The teams would continuously score, but slowly Clear Lake built its lead off of Cardinal fielding errors and strong at bats.

Clear Lake finished with a total of 17 hits in the game.

Oetken would drive one more RBI in on the day in the process of the game.

The game would bust open in the fourth inning after a two-run homerun from Clear Lake’s Bella Parker.

The Lions would score four runs that inning and five in the sixth to put away the game.
