      Garner-Hayfield-Ventura volleyball hosted Hampton-Dumont on Oct. 1.

The Cardinals pulled out the 3-1 win with each set ending with the two teams within six points of each other.

GHV took the first set 25-23.

The girls dropped the second set to the Bulldogs 19-25.

From there, the Cards finished off their opponents with a 25-23 and 25-20 third and fourth set.

“I think that was probably the best game we had going all year,” coach Meriel Leavy said. “We played more as a team and you could see the girls were starting to connect more while they were out on the court together.”

The cohesive performance showed in the offensive stats.

Chloe Frank led the team with 15 kills with Erica Eenhuis putting up 12 kills.

Three other players put in six or better kills.

Morgan Ryerson had seven kills; Jayden Frank and Carlee Frayne had six.

Maddie Graham led the team with 19 assists.

“We got big contributions from almost all of our girls,” coach Leavy said.
