Commencement 2017 at GHV, West Hancock & Belmond-Klemme

High school graduation a milestone in the lives of young adults. Commencement exercises at Garner-Hayfield-Ventura, West Hancock and Belmond-Klemme are Sunday, May 21.


Commencement for the 88 members of the GHV Class of 2017 is 1:30 p.m., Sunday, at the high school gymnasium in Garner.

Haley Suby, class secretary, will welcome friends and family. Commencement speakers will be Student Body President Joshua Chizek, Senior Class President Derek Brown and Senior Class Vice President Mackenzie VanGerpen. Class Treasurer Olivia Carew will give closing comments and thanks on behalf of the class.

The program includes the announcement of honor students and presentation of the American Legion and Bar Association Awards. 

West Hancock

Senior awards night at West Hancock is 6 p.m., Wednesday, May 17. A baccalaureate will follow at 7 p.m.

The West Hancock Class of 2017 will graduate 2 p.m., Sunday, May 21, at the West Hancock High School gym in Britt.

There are 45 members in the senior class. Class officers are: President David Wade, Vice President Josh Kreitlow, Secretary Alyssa Tegtmeyer, and Treasurer Madison Daniels.  

Jonathan Hernandez and David Wade are commencement speakers.

Principal Dan Peterson will make the formal presentation of the class. Superintendent Wayne Kronemann and Gary Chizek, school board president, will confer diplomas.


The Class of 2017 at Belmond-Klemme will graduate on Sunday, May 21. Commencement exercises will begin 2 p.m. at the Luick Memorial gymnasium in Belmond.

Senior class officers are President Jackee Meyer, Vice President Sydney Redding, Secretary Allie Trager, and Treasurer Kylie Cox.

Sara Keehn, interim superintendent, will welcome friends and family.

Graduation speakers will be seniors Angela Benevides, Mallory Sopher, Madelyn Mason and Jackee Meyer.

The program will include the announcement of the class valedictorian and honor students.
