Eagle Boys look strong in starting week

            The West Hancock boys track team started the first week of the season with a home meet and two away meets.

            The Eagles ran at the Sanger Co-ed Relays at home on April 1.

            Then on April 2, the team traveled to Eagle Grove.

            Both meets had athletes competing in cold weather.

            The West Hancock boys ended their week with warmer weather, running in Clarion on Friday.

            The team took third place on April 1 with a score of 111.

            Josef Smith put on a great performance in front of the home crowd.

            He’d place first in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 15.5 and finished in first with a long jumping distance of 20-10.

            Gavin Becker took second behind Smith in the long jump, leaping 19-6.50.

            Chandler Redenius also took a first place spot in the shot put with 44-11 throw.

            The Eagles took second place in discus, high jump, the 4x100 relay, the 4x800 relay and the 440-meter shuttle hurdle relay.
