GHV girls golf starts the year at home

            Garner-Hayfield-Ventura girls golf hosted two meets this week, the first of the year.

            On April 2, the team took on Clarion-Goldfield-Dows, falling behind them 239-235 in team points.

            Friday, the Cardinals returned to their home golf course for a triangular meet with North Union and Forest City.

            GHV placed first amongst the three, with a 231 score

            April 2, the Cardinals had the top two golfers with Carlee Frayne and Jailyn Krein.

            Frayne was the medalist of the meet with a score of 41, Krein took runner up with a 52.

            The rest of the team put up scores in the low 70s.

            “Four of the six girls were playing their first rounds in competition and the nerves for most of them were pretty evident,” coach Todd Greiman said.
