The Garner-Hayfield-Ventura softball team showed some of its best play this season as they went 2-2.

With senior night to cap off the week, the team started off with a 0-6 loss to North Butler at home on June 24.

The team followed up with an 8-7 win at home against Clarion-Goldfield-Dows.

Wednesday, the team dropped a 3-6 loss at North Union.

Senior night was unspoiled on Friday as the Cardinals slid past Bishop Garrigan 7-3.

Coach Kaitlyn Murphy said that it was a solid performance from the team all week

“We started playing with no pressure,” she said. “We felt some sort of relief [not playing with our backs against the wall].”

The attitude is a result from a shift of focus Murphy and her coaches have been pushing in the past couple of weeks, noting a lot of the mistakes made on both sides of the ball were related to stressing over trying to minimize mistakes.
