The Garner-Hayfield-Ventura softball team went on a long ride, playing every day from Tuesday, May 28 till Saturday.

The team had a variety of game results in the process from low-to-high.

The team defeated North Iowa in Garner to start the week on May 28.

The Cardinals scored early, which helped them to keep arm’s length from the competition.

Four runs in the sixth inning helped the Cards put the Bison away.

Jailyn Krein had 3 RBIs and hit a double in the game.

Kylie Hughes started the game on the mound and threw four strikeouts.

The next game was a visit to Forest City on Wednesday, where GHV would lose 1-7.

Similarly, the Cardinals lost to Humboldt in Humboldt on Thursday 0-7.

Both games had times where the team couldn’t find ways to score while on base.

Errors in the field also didn’t fare well for the team.

Both games proved to be a learning experience as the team only let up a few innings of big scoring and clamping down defensively the rest of the time.
