Garner-Hayfield-Ventura softball had a difficult stretch of games.

The team felt a heartbreaking loss on June 1 losing 5-6 against Belmond-Klemme in Belmond.

The team was then dealt another close game loss on June 4 by the hands of Osage at home, losing 7-12.

The next two home games were not close as Central Springs took a 13-3 victory on Wednesday and Clear Lake winning 13-0 on Wednesday.

Coach Kaitlyn Murphy described trying to shift the team’s focus when playing in tough games.

“A big goal was to go pitch-by-pitch,” Murphy said.

Doing so would help the team take the focus off of the bad and continue to press forward regardless of the score.
