Olsthoorn named Publisher of The Leader

Ana Olsthoorn

Mid-America Publishing Company, based in Hampton, is pleased to announce Ana Olsthoorn has been appointed to the position of publisher of The Leader.

Olsthoorn began her career with The Leader (formerly the Garner Leader) in 2001 where she was involved with designing ads and page layout. During this time she also served as office manager for the Southern County News (now the Pioneer Enterprise).

After the group was purchased by Mid America Publishing, Olsthoorn oversaw the formation and management of the Garner design hub, which produces seven to eight publications, along with creative services and special sections for several of the company’s properties. She also offers training, support and guidance for other designers throughout the company.

"We chose Ana for the position of publisher as she was already leading the design team at Garner,” said Matt Groh, CEO of Mid America Publishing. “And so it was a natural extension of her supervisory role in that regard. We have the greatest confidence that she can work with the existing editorial and composition team to make the Leader even more informing and entertaining."

“I am honored and excited to be given this opportunity,” said Olsthoorn. “We have such a fantastic team here at The Leader, and to be promoted to the helm is just humbling. Our focus will be to elevate The Leader to the next level in community reporting, advertising and specialty printing services.”

Pam DeVries, president of Mid-America said she feels Olsthoorn is the right choice for the position. “Ana has impressed us with her professionalism and talent. She is a natural fit for this position and I have great confidence that she will excel in her new role.”
