The West Hancock softball team was on the losing side of a war of attrition on July 8.

The Eagles played against Rockford on the road, losing 1-11.

The game had started off scoreless for the first two innings.

Rockford opened up the scoring with two runs in the third inning.

West Hancock responded with a single run in the top of the fourth when Carlee Bruns hit a double to allow Kennedy Kelly to score.

There the team found themselves on base a couple of times through the rest of the game but unable to find home to stay afloat.

“[it] was just trying to string things together when we had to,” coach Ethan Weiss said.

Rockford would continue to score including a big six-run inning to end the game in the sixth by mercy rule.
