West Hancock teachers and school board start bargaining meetings

            On March 26, the West Hancock School District Board of Education and the West Hancock Education Association met in Britt for the initial bargaining meeting to come for terms in the 2019-2020 school year.

            Both school and teachers presented their proposals and will plan to meet additionally to work out an agreement to satisfy both parties.

            The board suggested to only bargain base salary, citing past practices.

            They propose a $0 increase to the base pay, but would cover steps and lanes to equate to a $48464 increase or 1.32% increase.

            They also proposed all illegal, permissive items and non-negotiable items will remain in the staff handbook without change.
